May 2025 – Counter Sales Assistant

We’re looking for a multi-skilled, experienced Counter Sales Assistant to join our successful, customer focussed team, here at SLS Building Supplies.

As the right candidate, you will be hard working, reliable and safety focussed at all times. You will be able to work both independently and as part of a team and will be able to follow instructions as well as using your own initiative.

This position is customer facing, so you will have the skills to communicate effectively with customers in a helpful, friendly and efficient manner.

You will be working mostly behind the counter, but also in the yard, so the following skills and experience are required:

Serving customers and dealing with enquiries –

  • Knowledge of building products and materials
  • Good communication skills
  • Friendly, helpful and outgoing demeanour

Processing sales, orders, payments and returns –

  • Good grasp of numbers
  • Experience with computer systems
  • Attention to detail

Processing, sorting and storing incoming stock –

  • Experience with stock control processes and systems
  • Ability to prioritise tasks effectively and manage workload

Hours: 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday, 8am – 12pm Saturdays. However, we are also willing to offer a part-time position to the right candidate.
